Speech-to-Text is priced based on the amount of audio successfully processed by the service each month, measured in increments rounded up to 15 seconds. If the API returns a response, the audio sent in the request was successfully processed. This includes an empty response, which indicates that the API processed the audio but could not transcribe it. Requests that result in an error do not count as successfully processed and therefore don't incur any cost.
The pricing table below applies to applications on personal systems (for example, phones, tablets, laptops, desktops). Please contact us for approval and pricing to use the Speech-to-Text API on embedded devices (for example, cars, TVs, appliances, or speakers).
You can view your current billing status, including usage and your current bill, in the Cloud Console. For more details about managing your account, see the Cloud billing documentation or billing and payments support.

** Each request is rounded up to the nearest increment of 15 seconds.
Content to Speech-to-Text is provided as audio data, either directly within the content field of the request or referenced within a Google Cloud Storage URI in the uri field of the request. There is a limit of 10 MB on all single requests sent to the API using local files. In the case of the Recognize and LongRunningRecognize methods, this limit applies to the size of the request sent. In the case of the StreamingRecognize method, the 10 MB limit applies to both the initial StreamingRecognize request and the size of each individual message in the stream. Exceeding this limit will throw an error. There is no size limit on requests sent using audio data stored in a Google Cloud Storage bucket.
The API contains the following limits on the size of this content (and are subject to change).

Google does not make the audio content sent to the Speech-to-Text API available to anyone else except as necessary to provide the Speech-to-Text API service. For example, sometimes we might need to use a third-party vendor to help us provide some aspect of our services, such as data storage or transmission. In these cases, that vendor is under appropriate security and confidentiality contractual obligations. We don't share your audio with other parties for any other purpose.
If you are not enrolled in the data logging opt-in program, Google does not use any of your content for any purpose except to provide you with the Speech-to-Text API service. Content includes, for example, audio sent to the API or any returned transcripts.

Google only uses data from customers who have opted in to data logging and agreed to the relevant terms to improve its services. Data from customers who have not opted in to data logging is not stored or used by Google for anything other than providing the service to the customer.
